5.0 out of 5 stars Great game leading up to the World Cup, April 29, 2010

Whether you are a huge soccer fan or totally new to the sport this game is a blast. I bought Fifa 10 at release and have played it a ton and this game only improves on it. Same great engine from Fifa 10 is tweaked to address some major annoyances. (Defenders chesting balls in the box down straight to attackers for gimme goals, easy chips of the keeper)
Scatter shot observations.

All 199 teams, many with authentic jerseys. New stadiums and overall presentation is great although the in-game cut scenes can get a bit repetitive.

Graphics in the cut scenes are also improved and the player close-ups look better than ever. Captain your country is a pretty cool feature, and if you have a created player from Fifa 10 you can transfer him over. The stats you worked so hard to build up will not transfer though as you have to progress by performing well in qualifying and friendlies on the way to the World Cup.

Tourney mode starts with qualifying and... Read more

Not a big real life soccer fan, but I love me some video game soccer. I've owned Fifa World Cup 2002 and 2006 for the original XBox. I also have World Cup 2006 for the 360. In the World Cup video games of the past the USA is always in the game, but when you win them the World Cup, it never resonates through the announcers the moment in history that just occured. Its a standardized general fanfare for "insert team/country name here" type of presentation. Except this time. In 2010, when team USA goes to the finals, the announcers are prepared. You hear them talking about soccer in America being the fifth sport and the future of soccer in America.. They discuss the possibilities of what would happen if the US, the largest sports market in the world. They make you feel that this is the real deal, not just a few general soundbites that is anti-climatic at the end. Let me tell you, when I won America the World Cup, it felt good because the annoucers and the presentation made it... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars FUN but not at full price, July 14, 2010

This review is from: 2010 FIFA World Cup (Video Game)
The changes to game play are minor and the graphics are nothing special. What makes the game fun is the online World Cup. Being able to play real people in your quest for the cup at any time with no special planning is great. The $50+ price is not good for minor changes but since I purchased it at a discounted rate (Amazon Special) I am very satisfied.
